Orange pie

A tasty and refreshing dessert, ideally served with ice cream.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pot of 2% yogurt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 glass of corn oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1–2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 1 sachet of baking powder
  • Zest of one orange
  • 1 packet of filo pastry

For the syrup:

  • 3 glasses water
  • 2 glasses sugar
  • Cinnamon stick (optional)
  • Peel of one orange

Method:

  1. Place all the ingredients except the filo sheets in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Cut the filo sheets into quarters, crumple them, and fold them into the mixture.
  2. Once all the filo is added, pour the mixture into a greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven for 30–35 minutes at 180–200°C, depending on your oven.
  3. Boil all the syrup ingredients together and let it thicken slightly.
  4. When the dessert is baked, score it and pour the cold syrup over it.

A few extra tips:

  • You can substitute sunflower oil for the corn oil. If you prefer to use olive oil, which has a stronger flavour, use a smaller amount.
  • After boiling the syrup, remove the orange peel so the syrup doesn’t become bitter.
